Proposed Surroundings
Access off a public square ajacent to Block G
The design enhances current pedestrian access
by improving current access routes and facilitating
permeability in conjunction with the ambitions for the
Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Framework.
The principle route along Wandsworth Road is now
faced by the Store Entry/Atrium, with destinations
at both ends, in the shape of the emerging public
square to the north and the possible underground
station entry to the south. The perimeter routes in
both Pascal Street and the potential Viaduct Road
are maintained by limiting activity to the mainly
residential street and creating activity to potentially
enliven the viaduct.
Finally, a fully pedestrianised route through the site
between the station and the store may allow for
future connections to the public face of the New
Covent Garden Market, and the Nine Elms schemes
beyond, to the south and Wandsworth Road.
All routes within the site are either level, or limited, to
ensure ease of movement throughout for everyone.
The routes are clear, logical and will support simple
way finding. Any crossing points will match current
standards with dropped kerbs and blistered paving.

Linking Vauxhall and Battersea
Illustrative plan showing potential connections throughout Nine Elms linking the area with Vauxhall and Battersea.
Closest stations
The redevelopment of this site has been designed to have the potential to accommodate a new London Underground station associated with the proposed Northern Line Extension and link to other potential development sites nearby, such as New Covent Garden Market.
It should be recognised that the development has been designed to be capable of being delivered on its own and is not dependent on these works to be successful.
Proposed Underground Station
The site is in close proximity to Vauxhall Transport
Interchanges which features: an Underground
Station linking to the Victoria Line, a major rail
connection operated by Southern and South West
Trains linking through Vauxhall to Victoria and the
south, and a major bus terminus. Both the train and
underground stations are not currently step free with
the nearest step free station being Victoria.
The proposals allow for the inclusion of a possible
new Underground Station on an area of the site as
part of the New Northern Line Extension which will
connect onwards to Battersea Power Station/Park.
These proposals include for step free access.

Nine Elms Tube Station
At this stage in the development process this hasn't been taken into consideration due to the proxmity of the proposed London Underground Station. In addition, the local facilities on Wandsworth Road mean the majority of residents will access these via sustainable means.
